FIrst New Update from NEW BRHJA

The new BRHJA Board of Directors met on December 17th for our first official meeting, and we discussed several important issues that we are facing in the reorganization of this 40-year-old regional horse show association. We will keep you posted as we finalize any changes, and as we develop new and exciting activities for the membership. For the first time in the history of this organization, we have filed for status with the State of NC, as a 501-c3 non-profit. We expect that to be confirmed sometime in January, but until that time, our hands are somewhat tied as to what we can do. We will be soliciting memberships soon but need to hold off with the new membership application forms, until we finalize membership fees and have our bank account established. For those who showed at the Harmon Classics December show there will be an extended date for horse and individual retro-active membership registration, so that all points will be applied to the 2025 show season.

The board has discussed and will put forward a solid horse show schedule of BRHJA shows for the 2025 show season. We are excited that we will be able to offer more BRHJA shows in the local showing area than in the past few years. In addition to his October date at FENCE, Rick Cram and Progressive Show Jumping (PSJ) are offering 2 new spring shows, one at FENCE in May and one at Tryon Equestrian Center (TIEC) in March, both featuring a BRHJA Derby. PSJ will also rate 5 shows at Highfields (Aiken, SC) with BRHJA. Lewis Pack and Harmon Classics will continue to have such favorites as Derby Mania and the September Spectacular (TIEC). The Tryon Riding and Hunt Club (TRHC) show at FENCE will couple with the PSJ May show to provide circuit grand champion prizes. (You may leave your tack room set up in place). Harmon Classics will also host the BRHJA Classic. That will give BRHJA members the opportunity to collect BRHJA Points at 12 horse shows through the show season (March-October). We are excited to have two of the southeast’s top horse show managers supporting our organization for this expanded show season.

Stay tuned for updates

You have Questions, we have answers.
  1. What memberships do I have to have?

Answer it depends, Are you a junior? if Yes you need a Junior membership, and the horse you own or lease must be recorded for your hunter and derby points to count. If no, are you over 18? If you answer yes, then you have 3 options, Do you ride the horse you own/lease at horse shows in adult or Amateur classes? if yes, then you need a senior membership, along with the horse you own/lease needs to be recorded. If NO, you now have two options, do you ride at shows? if the answer is NO, but, you love to watch your horse being shown by your trainer, then you need an owner membership and to record your horse. Finally if you are over 18 and you don't show in adult or amateur class then you are a Trainer? Then you need to have a trainer membership

  2. Remember in Equitation divisions the Rider and the Trainer must be members.

  3. In the Hunter divisions and the Derby, the Horse, Rider, Trainer and Owner must be members. But you do not need a separate owner membership if the rider or trainer owns the horse and has recorded it. A rider can be an owner if they are leasing the horse..

  4. Now, If a Barn owns the horse then the Barn needs a membership as OWNER, then they can record the horse.

  5. Can I register more than one horse? Absolutely, the more the merrier, lets get you those points!!!!

  6. You can always check to see if you or your trainer, or horse are recorded, we update as soon as possible but please give us 48 hours from when you submit your form and payment, we are riding our horses also!!!

  7. I need to join, and I need to record my horse how can I check out only one time. Great question, fill out your membership, hit submit, then scroll down to payment and and click payment a cart will open up, X out then go to horse/pony recording, fill it out hit submit then go to payment, click payment this time when cart opens it will show your membership and recording in there, If you have more just keep following same steps and when you are ready hit check out there and you can fill your cc information in, or if you want to mail a check please fill out contact info, hit continue then pick the pay by check option. Just realize, that your membership will not be valid until your check arrives...
